TPN , Andhra Pradesh — Director of the Abkari Department, Nishant Kumar, has assured the public that there is no shortage of Indian Manufactured Foreign Liquor (IMFL) in the state. He stated that the current reserves are adequate for consumption, with stocks sufficient to last at least 20 days.
In a recent announcement, Kumar highlighted that the state maintains an average daily consumption of 90,000 cases of IMFL and 23,000 cases of beer. As of now, there are approximately 20 lakh cases of IMFL and 5.6 lakh cases of beer available across various liquor depots.
Kumar detailed that the stock available is divided across different outlets, with around 6.93 lakh cases of IMFL ready for distribution, which can sustain demand for about nine days based on average consumption rates. He attributed any localized shortages to recent floods, which have impacted storage capacities, particularly in Vijayawada city.
Despite the challenges, he emphasized that last year’s sales figures for September reached ₹2,487 crores, while sales this year have already hit ₹1,972 crores, with expectations to match last year’s performance within the next six days.
Kumar dispelled rumors suggesting that a lack of stock would negatively affect government revenues, stating that whether sales occur in wine shops or bars, all income contributes to government coffers. He reassured consumers that they can expect continued availability of their preferred beverages.
