Hyderabad: Three men were arrested on Wednesday, November 6, near Bio-Diversity Park in Hyderabad for the alleged gang rape of a 50-year-old Lambada tribal woman in Om Nagar, Madhura Nagar. The accused, identified as Chandu Chauhan (24), Ajay Kumar (25), and Mohd Arif (35), are originally from Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, and work as painters and construction laborers in Hyderabad.
According to Madhura Nagar police, the suspects targeted the woman, who works as a laborer, and had stalked her for several days. On Monday night, they reportedly approached her with an offer of Rs 500 to wash their clothes and then took her to their residence in an auto, where they allegedly beat and sexually assaulted her.
The woman’s cries were heard by a neighbor, who alerted others, causing the accused to flee. Following the victim’s complaint, police filed charges of wrongful confinement, attempt to murder, and gang rape. The arrests were made within a day, and the accused were presented before the court and remanded into judicial custody, according to Assistant Commissioner of Police, Panjagutta Division.
