TPN , Gurugram : Senior Congress leader Raj Babbar launched a strong critique of the BJP’s governance in Haryana, asserting that the party has failed to address critical civic issues in Gurugram despite being in power for the last decade. Babbar made these remarks during a public meeting to support Congress candidates Vardhan Yadav for Badshahpur and Mohit Grover for Gurgaon constituency.
Babbar emphasized that mere construction of flyovers does not constitute real development. He highlighted the deteriorating state of civic infrastructure in Gurugram, a district that significantly contributes to the state’s revenue yet suffers from inadequate basic amenities.
“The condition of Gurugram is glaringly exposed during the monsoon. People are left to deal with garbage on their own, and there is no comprehensive plan to handle the rainy season. The government has been receiving substantial revenue from this region, but the return on that investment is nonexistent,” he stated.
This event marked Babbar’s first public appearance in Gurugram since contesting against senior BJP leader Rao Inderjit Singh in previous elections. He urged voters to choose Congress candidates across the Gurgaon district, promising improvements in civic infrastructure if the party regains power.
Further criticizing the BJP, Babbar pointed out failures such as the inability to connect Nuh district to the railway network and the stalled Rapid Metro project. He asserted that the people of Gurugram are ready to vote for Congress and bring back a government led by former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, aiming for better governance and accountability in the region.
