TPN , Hyderabad : Medak MP Raghunandan Rao has strongly criticized the Telangana government, alleging the diversion of rural development funds. Speaking to the media, he emphasized that regardless of the ruling party, the central government would continue to release funds for village welfare. Rao pointed out that while ₹1,200 crore had been allocated six months ago, only ₹200 crore was utilized, with the remainder allegedly diverted.
He expressed concern over pending payments, noting that ₹600 crore owed from the central government remains unpaid, hampering rural development efforts. Rao highlighted that Panchayat secretaries have been forced to use their own money for local projects due to the state government’s mismanagement.
Additionally, Rao noted that the central government has released ₹500 crore following the 15th Finance Commission’s recommendations and ₹300 crore for the National Health Mission. He called for the construction of health centers to support villages grappling with health issues. Despite the central government’s allocation of ₹2,000 crore, he claimed the Telangana government misappropriated these funds, insisting that local development should not be politicized.
