Hyderabad, Oct 22: K.T. Rama Rao, working president of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), has expressed serious concerns regarding the deteriorating law and order situation in Telangana. His remarks come in the wake of a protest by senior Congress leader T. Jeevan Reddy in Jagtial district, following the murder of one of his close associates.
Reddy staged the protest to voice his outrage over the killing of Maru Ganga Reddy, a former member of the Mandal Parishad Territorial Committee (MPTC) and a prominent supporter. Ganga Reddy was attacked in Jabitapur village when a person struck him with a car and subsequently assaulted him with a knife, leading to his death while being transported to a hospital.
Taking to social media platform X, KTR noted, “A senior Congress leader & former minister, MLC Jeevan Reddy Garu today is echoing what the rest of Telangana has been saying since the last few months. Law & order in Telangana has been a major concern.” He criticized the absence of a full-time Home Minister and highlighted that the police force is often distracted by political affairs, crippling their ability to maintain law enforcement.
KTR urged political leaders to allow police officers the autonomy to focus on their primary responsibilities of ensuring peace and harmony within the state.
During his protest, Jeevan Reddy expressed his dismay over the lack of security for Congress leaders and suggested that the murder was premeditated by political adversaries. He questioned the effectiveness of the BRS rule in Jagtial and raised broader concerns about governance in the state.
As political tensions rise following the incident, both KTR and Reddy’s statements reflect growing unease regarding safety and law enforcement in Telangana.
