TPN,Vijayawada: In a resolute push towards eradicating malaria from NTR District by 2030, Dr. Suhasi, the District Medical Officer, has rallied the medical fraternity and officials to intensify their efforts. The recent World Malaria Day celebration on April 25th saw a fervent review meeting in Vijayawada, where Dr. Suhasini emphasized the need for a collaborative approach involving grassroots efforts and community engagement.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Suhasini stressed the importance of proactive measures, urging medical personnel to venture into remote villages for comprehensive door-to-door surveys. This hands-on approach aims to not only identify potential malaria cases but also to raise awareness among residents through informative leaflets and active participation in eradication initiatives.
The overarching goal, aligned with World Health Organization directives, is a malaria-free NTR District by 2030. Dr. Suhasini emphasized the collective responsibility shared by healthcare workers and the public alike, highlighting the pivotal role each individual plays in achieving this ambitious target.
Key directives were issued during the meeting, emphasizing the need for thorough identification of water reservoirs across all areas. Prompt reporting to higher authorities and the implementation of appropriate preventive measures were underscored as critical steps in curbing malaria transmission.
Dr. Moti Babu, the District Malaria Officer, reiterated the urgency of vigilance among staff members. Emphasizing the mosquito eradication program, he outlined strategies for conducting meticulous door-to-door surveys and collecting blood samples from individuals exhibiting fever symptoms. The initiative includes observing Dry Fridays as part of mosquito control efforts.
In cases requiring immediate attention, the use of Rapid Diagnostic Test (RDT) kits was recommended, with follow-up blood tests through slides for confirmation. Dr. Moti Babu highlighted the encouraging reduction in malaria cases attributed to larval control operations led by AMO Surya Naik.
A recent highlight of the campaign was the Friday rally in Vijayawada’s rural areas, where officials and staff, including Dr. Moti Babu, Assistant Malaria Officer Surya Naik, and Dr. Amrita, actively engaged with the community. The rally aimed to raise awareness and garner community support towards malaria eradication efforts.
The collaborative spirit exhibited in these endeavors reflects a determined stride towards achieving a zero percent malaria rate in NTR District by 2030. With concerted efforts at every level, from grassroots surveys to community involvement and innovative larval control operations, NTR District stands poised to make significant strides in its battle against malaria.
