Chennai, Sep 22: Team India has created a historic milestone by securing its 179th Test victory against Bangladesh, marking the first time in its 92-year Test cricket history that the number of wins has exceeded the number of losses. India won the match by a commanding margin of 280 runs at the M. A. Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai.
With this victory, India has now played a total of 581 Test matches, recording 178 losses. The journey began in 1932 under captain CK Naidu, where India faced its first defeat by 158 runs. Since then, the trend had been a higher number of losses until this landmark achievement.
This milestone places India among a select group of cricketing nations, including Australia, England, South Africa, and Pakistan, that have achieved more victories than losses in Test cricket.
