TPN, Hyderabad: Former Minister T. Harish Rao has asserted that the current Congress government is benefiting from the groundwork laid by the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) government under former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR). He highlighted that the initiatives implemented during KCR’s tenure significantly boosted agriculture and cotton production in Telangana.
In a recent statement on X, Rao shared statistics indicating that Telangana achieved the status of the largest rice-producing state in India for the 2023-24 season, with a production of 168.75 lakh tonnes, surpassing its previous output of 158.77 lakh tonnes in 2022-23, when it was ranked second. Additionally, he noted that Telangana ranked third in cotton production, with 50.8 lakh bales produced in the same period. Rao emphasized that these accomplishments were not incidental but rather the result of KCR’s commitment to advancing agriculture and irrigation. He criticized the Congress government for merely riding on the successes achieved through KCR’s vision and policies, asserting that it is KCR’s leadership that established Telangana as an agricultural powerhouse.
