New Delhi, Oct 23: BJP’s national general secretary Dushyant Gautam has made pointed remarks regarding Priyanka Gandhi’s nomination for the Wayanad Lok Sabha constituency. He expressed that it is “unfortunate for the people of Wayanad” that the former MP, Rahul Gandhi, had “run away” without contributing to local development, implying that Priyanka’s candidacy does not address the community’s needs.
Gautam accused the Gandhi family of misleading voters, stating, “This family only misleads voters. The people of Wayanad are suffering because of their misleading tactics.” He expressed skepticism about Priyanka’s acceptance by the electorate.
In addition, Gautam addressed recent disruptions during Diwali celebrations at Jamia Millia Islamia University, attributing the chaos to previous Congress governments. He remarked, “The university is funded by the entire nation,” and criticized the Congress for its declaration of the institution as a Muslim university, suggesting it led to a decline in communal harmony.
He also claimed that slogans supporting Palestine were raised during the unrest, linking it to what he described as the “Tukde Tukde Gang,” a term he uses to describe groups he believes undermine national unity.
Further, Gautam responded to RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav’s comments on communal tensions, questioning Yadav’s focus solely on Muslim interests. He accused Yadav of fostering communalism and of being involved in corruption, asserting that the public is becoming increasingly aware of these issues.
The remarks from Gautam highlight the BJP’s strategy of challenging the opposition’s credibility while positioning itself as a defender of national values and unity.
