AP Revenue Services Association Calls for Immediate Reforms in Revenue Department

TPN , Andhra Pradesh : The Andhra Pradesh Revenue Services Association, represented by Mr. Agani Satya Prasad, met with officials to discuss pressing issues affecting the revenue department. The meeting underscored the need for a long-term solution to various challenges facing revenue employees.

Key Issues Addressed:

  1. Staffing and Infrastructure: The association highlighted the severe staffing shortages and lack of resources due to the previous government’s division of districts, which resulted in inadequate support for both old and new district offices. They urged for immediate recruitment to achieve “Uniform Cadre Strength” across all 26 district collector’s offices to enhance operational efficiency.
  2. Training for Employees: The need for comprehensive training programs was emphasized to keep employees updated on changing regulations and laws. Regular training sessions for all levels, from village revenue officers to tehsildars, are essential to improve professionalism and operational effectiveness.
  3. Funding Challenges: Revenue officials are facing financial stress due to minimal budget allocations for operational expenses. Current allocations are deemed insufficient, with only ₹18 per month for office expenses per tehsildar office and ₹411 for consumables. The association called for increased funding to alleviate financial pressures on revenue employees.
  4. Addressing Previous Harassment: Concerns were raised regarding the previous government’s ACB inspections, which reportedly intimidated revenue officials. The association requested the withdrawal of common disciplinary cases filed on minor grounds, urging for a fair review process.
  5. Positive Working Environment: The association urged the government to create a supportive work environment through adequate staffing, infrastructure, and funding, which would enable revenue employees to fulfill their duties effectively and transparently.

Government’s Response:
The government responded positively to the concerns raised, acknowledging the need for improved staffing and training. Officials assured that appropriate actions would be taken regarding the issues of sudden inspections and disciplinary cases. Financial matters will be discussed with the Chief Minister for a timely resolution.

The meeting highlighted the commitment of the Andhra Pradesh Revenue Services Association to work collaboratively with the government to ensure efficient and transparent revenue services, ultimately benefiting the citizens of the state.
