Weather Update: Meteorological Department's Advice for Travelers in Telugu States

Amaravati, Jan 17

As the Sankranti celebrations wind down and people begin returning to their hometowns in the Telugu states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, many are wondering what the weather will be like for their travels. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has provided an update on the weather conditions in both states.

While the low pressure system that had formed in the Arabian Sea has dissipated, the region is still under the influence of a low-pressure trough. However, no weather warnings have been issued for Andhra Pradesh or Telangana at this time, making it suitable for travel in the Telugu states.

In the coming days, January 18 and 19, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry are expected to receive heavy rains and light to moderate rains in several areas due to the low-pressure trough. However, these conditions will not impact the weather in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

Weather Forecast for Andhra Pradesh and Telangana

  • Cloudy skies and high wind movement are expected throughout the Telugu states. Winds will blow at 30 km/h in the Bay of Bengal, 15 km/h in Andhra Pradesh, and 11 km/h in Telangana.
  • Daytime temperatures will be 27°C in Telangana and 29°C in Andhra Pradesh.
  • Nighttime temperatures will be cooler, with 18°C in Telangana and 21°C in Andhra Pradesh.
  • Humidity levels will be 50% in Telangana and 60% in Andhra Pradesh during the day, rising to 94% and 95%, respectively, at night.

Although there is no forecast for rain in the Telugu states, the cold is expected to intensify, particularly at night. This means that while the weather will be generally good for travel, it is advisable to carry some warm clothing for the evening hours.

Overall, the weather is expected to be pleasant for travelers heading back home during this post-Sankranti period, with clear skies and manageable temperatures.
