Andhra Pradesh, Jan 17
The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has achieved a historic milestone by surpassing one crore memberships through its innovative and technology-driven registration program. As of now, a total of 1,00,52,598 people have joined the party, making TDP the largest political family in the region.
Launched by TDP National President Chandrababu Naidu on October 26 last year, the membership registration drive witnessed massive participation across Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Andaman. The use of digital platforms spearheaded by TDP National General Secretary Nara Lokesh played a pivotal role in the program’s success. Lokesh’s decision to simplify the registration process using popular platforms enabled people to enroll easily, contributing significantly to this achievement.
Record-Breaking Memberships
- 11 constituencies surpassed the one lakh membership mark, with Nellore City leading at 1,49,270 memberships.
- 105 constituencies recorded over 50,000 memberships.
- Top-performing constituencies include Atmakur (1,48,802), Palakollu (1,48,559), and Rajampet (1,45,766).
The membership drive has also received an overwhelming response for permanent memberships, with Mangalagiri (145), Atmakur (137), and Vinukonda (79) topping the list.
Activist Welfare Initiatives
Under the leadership of Nara Lokesh, the TDP Welfare Wing continues to prioritize the well-being of party activists. Since being entrusted with this responsibility by Chandrababu Naidu during the 2014 Mahanadu, the wing has provided significant support:
- Education Support: Over 2,500 activists' children have received educational assistance.
- Financial Assistance: ₹103.28 crore has been distributed to families of 5,164 activists who lost their lives in accidents.
- Medical Aid: Activists suffering from illnesses have received financial and medical support.
- Employment: Nearly 2,000 activists have been offered job opportunities.
- Accident Insurance: Insurance coverage for members has been increased to ₹5 lakh, benefiting over one crore members.
Through initiatives such as free education via NTR Model Schools, skill training, and scholarships, the party has shown its commitment to empowering its members. The TDP’s milestone is not only a testament to its popularity but also its dedication to supporting activists at the grassroots level.
