Minister Dola Criticizes Former CM Jagan for Power Hikes and Corruption
Andhra Pradesh Minister Dola Bala Veeranjaneya Swami has launched a scathing attack on former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, accusing him of misgovernance and mismanagement during his tenure. In a series of sharp remarks, the minister claimed that the negative impacts of Jagan's decisions continue to affect the people of the state.
Dola specifically took aim at the issue of increased electricity charges, which were imposed during Jagan's time in office. He accused the former Chief Minister of engaging in "psycho tactics" by orchestrating protests against the very power price hikes his government had implemented. "Is it not true that Jagan's government spent an additional ₹19,000 crore on power purchases beyond what was approved by the Andhra Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission (APERC)?" Dola questioned, condemning Jagan’s call for protests as hypocritical.
The minister also alleged that Jagan’s administration purchased electricity at inflated prices in the open market, spending ₹8 to ₹14 per unit instead of the approved ₹5. According to Dola, this practice was not only corrupt but also designed to benefit from commissions, further increasing the financial burden on the public.
Highlighting the dissatisfaction of the people, Dola remarked, “It was because Jagan raised power charges that people snatched power from him.” He cautioned that any future attempts to deceive the public would ultimately backfire, urging Jagan to take this as a lesson in political accountability.
This latest criticism adds fuel to the ongoing political rivalry between the ruling YSR Congress Party and the opposition, particularly over issues related to governance and public welfare.
