Akhilesh Yadav, the Samajwadi Party’s candidate for the Kannauj Lok Sabha constituency in Uttar Pradesh, has declared assets amounting to ₹26.34 crore in his affidavit. His wife, Dimple Yadav, contesting from Mainpuri, has assets worth over ₹15 crore. Together, their total assets exceed ₹41 crore.
In an interesting revelation, Dimple Yadav disclosed owing her husband ₹54.26 lakh, categorized under ‘personal loans/advances.’ Akhilesh Yadav’s movable assets are valued at ₹9.12 crore, with immovable assets at ₹17.22 crore. Meanwhile, Dimple Yadav’s movable assets total ₹5.1 crore, and immovable assets are ₹10.44 crore.
The affidavit also includes details of cash and bank deposits. Akhilesh Yadav declared ₹25.61 lakh in cash and ₹5.41 crore in bank vaults. Notably, under the category of jewellery and valuable items, he disclosed exercise machines worth ₹5.34 lakh and crockery worth ₹1.6 lakh.
Both Akhilesh and Dimple Yadav provided information on their annual income for the past five years. Akhilesh’s average income during this period was around ₹87 lakh, while Dimple’s averaged approximately ₹65 lakh. Their incomes for FY 2022-23 were ₹84.52 lakh and ₹67.5 lakh, respectively.
Akhilesh Yadav’s decision to contest from Kannauj, replacing his nephew Tej Pratap Yadav, reflects party strategy and addresses discontent among Samajwadi Party workers. Kannauj, historically a Samajwadi Party stronghold, was won by the BJP in 2019.
