The Hyderabad–Vijayawada National Highway (NH-65) is set to be expanded from four lanes to six lanes to ease traffic congestion and improve connectivity between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Telangana Roads Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy has discussed the project with NHAI officials in Delhi. The tender process is expected to be completed by November 11, with construction targeted to begin in January 2027. The project proposes an investment of around ₹6,792 crore for a 181-kilometre stretch, including service roads on both sides. Between January and September, five districts along NH-65 recorded 1,661 road accidents and 354 deaths. Authorities have identified 17 accident-prone black spots and are planning safety improvements, including underpasses and junction development. The expansion is expected to reduce travel time and improve goods transportation between the two states.
